Chaise Shooting I

Description

After beeing busy for the last two weeks or so, I think it's finally time for the first photo shooting with Miriam. :) This will be a short series of pictures in a "conservatory" or "sun room" themed set of props I found standing around in the studio. Oh, and I had to try out those myriads of poses loitering in my runtime library at last... ;)

And the chaise really does look inviting, doesn't it? ;)

This is part 1 and the model is Miriam/V4, and the pictures are mostly about D-forming and such.

Other parts: , , ,

What do you think?

DAZ Studio 3 + Reality 1.25 + Lux Render 0.8 + PS CS5 + about 3-4 hours composing & 14 hours rendering & 0.5 hours post-work.

I'd like to start by saying I love this image. I will only ever critique images I personally like, or see potential in. This happens to be a render I think is fabulous, and certainly does not need to be picked apart. I'm not going to do that, because there is nothing here that can be picked apart. It's a very skilled work. I will, however, offer some minor suggestions, only with the hope that it will help in the future.

I will start with the pose. It is excellent. Almost perfect. The way the hands are placed, with careful attention to the fingers, is very skillful. This includes the expression, which I find amusing, and almost whimsical. It's as if we caught her in between photo-shoots, asking when the photographer will be done. The only crit i have is that there is some "float" under the body that could be corrected by just moving her torso closer to the couch object, even if her body mesh intersects the cushion slightly, it will not be noticeable as much as the dark gap we see here between her body and the seat. Her arm is perfectly placed, as we do not see that much shadow between it and the cushion. Her body has a lot more weight, but it seems not to be, unless you bring her into the cushion more.

As for materials, I see not much I could say needs improvement. Your materials in this render are so near photo-realistic, it's hard to critique them fairly. The only thing I see that can be improved is the detail in the wood of the seat/couch. While the material is great, and looks like it should in life, the detail parts of it... the grooves and ornate decorations on the wood... need some more depth. The specular effect is evenly lit across it, although we can clearly see there is decoration carved into the wood. So this says we need to increase bump, or add displacement to the material, to keep the specular highlights from appearing flat or evenly lit across this surface.

That's about all. Great great render. If this image comes up for addition to our featured area, I will certainly vote it in!
